A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §25-1-5a, relating to authorizing the Commissioner of Corrections to enter into mutual aid agreements.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

            That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated§25-1-5a, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 1. ORGANIZATION, INSTITUTIONS AND CORRECTIONS MANAGEMENT.

§25-1-5a. Mutual aid agreements.

            The commissioner may enter into agreements to provide for the rendering of mutual aid to the political subdivisions of this state, other states, to generally cooperate with the federal government and to provide for the common defense, protect the public peace, health and safety and to preserve the lives and property of the people of this state.

            

            NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to authorize the Commissioner of Corrections to enter into mutual aid agreements.
